Mom Adopts Best Friend’s Daughters After Brain Cancer Tragedy

family

When Elizabeth Diamond got very sick with stage-four brain cancer in August 2014, she worried about what would happen to her daughters if she died. Her best friend, Laura Ruffino, who she knew since they were in 5th grade, promised to take care of the girls if anything happened to her. Sadly, Elizabeth passed away in April 2015, and Laura kept her promise.

Now, Laura’s family has grown bigger because she adopted all four of Elizabeth’s daughters. Laura lives with her husband and two daughters, and now they have four more girls to look after. They all live together in Orchard Park, NY.

The community in Orchard Park is helping Laura and her bigger family by raising money for them. They have already collected more than $80,000 through a YouCaring campaign. This money will help Laura and her family as they adjust to having more people in their home.
