Mike was stunned when he first saw the family of geese, with the mother goose looking after sixteen little goslings. Intrigued, he started visiting the spot every night, hoping to see them again. Each time he went, he noticed more baby goslings around the mother goose.

The numbers kept growing—25, then 30, until one evening, Mike counted an astonishing 47 baby goslings with the mother goose. What amazed him even more was that the mother goose wasn’t just caring for her own babies; she was looking after goslings from different families. This phenomenon is known as a gang brood.

Baby goslings are quite independent and tend to wander, often getting lost and joining other groups. But there’s always a couple of geese who lead these crowds of goslings around, almost like a daycare.
