When the egg hatched, out came a tiny duckling that Khalaf named Spike. From that moment, the two formed an unbreakable bond that quickly captured the hearts of Khalaf’s followers on Instagram.

Khalaf described his feelings about Spike, saying, “I felt a presence and a weird paternal bond almost straight away. It sounded silly at first, but I soon realized how deeply connected we’d become.”

Over time, Khalaf became deeply invested in learning everything he could about ducks. He explained, “I’ve learned more about duck biology than I ever thought I could. My ADHD hyperfocus and obsession with him turned into a beautiful symbiosis. He gives me daily purpose and joy, and I’m helping him thrive in return.”
